Jelena Pataki Šumiga , Ph.D., is a teaching assistant at the Department of English at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Osijek, Croatia. She teaches old English literature and contemporary British dystopia. Her fields of interest include Anglophone literature and popular culture, mainly YA literature, dystopia, and romance. She is a member of the YA Studies Association, Utopian Studies Society Europe, and the Executive Committee of the Centre for Popular Culture at the University of Osijek, as well as co-editor of its academic blog, Fractals: The Shapes of Popular Culture. A member of the Croatian Literary Translators Association, she has translated over sixty genre fiction books from English to Croatian.
