Stanislava Nikolić Aras

Stanislava Nikolić Aras was born in 1972 in Trogir. She has been living in Zadar since 1992 and has worked as a teacher of Croatian language and literature in elementary schools and high schools. She is member of Zapis – Zadarski pisci. She has worked as a waitress, teacher, language editor, journalist, theatre pedagogue, yoga instructor, supplier of macrobiotic sandwiches, literary festival organizer, secretary, show producer, lecturer. She is the mother of two. She writes poetry, short stories and essays. Her poetry appeared in journal such as Tema, Zadarska smotra, Fantom slobode, and in the anthology Takve se stvari događaju ljudima (2013). He fiction was published in Quorum, Forum, Zadarska smotra, Arteist, Almost Famous, Beton, etc. Her short stories won three awards: two Vranac Prizes, for stories Srebrni zmaj and Gutanje, at the competition organized by Odakle zovem festival in Podgorica, and the Matica hrvatska Award for her short story Neron. She ocassionally runs creative writing workshops with Želimir Periš, occasionally writes for Croatian Radio Three, occasionally is temporarily employed although she is most often on the unemployment office’s list. She worked with the Zadar Puppets Theatre, Croatian Education Agency, Center for Creative Writing, etc. Recently she began writing reviews for Najboljeknjige.com and for Croatian Radion Three. She lives in Zadar and Dubrovnik.
