Hans Günther, University of Bielefeld, Germany


Hans Günther was born in 1941 in Lodz (Poland). He studied at the universities of Frankfurt, Kiel, Belgrade and Munich, and taught Russian literature at the Bochum and Bielefeld universities (Germany) until 2006. His PhD was published as Das Groteske bei N.V. Gogol´ in 1968. During the 1970s, he published about Russian formalism, Czech structuralism, and the Russian Avant-Garde. Later on, Soviet literature and culture became his main field of research: he published Die Verstaatlichung der Literatur (1984), Der sozialistische Übermensch (1993); together with E. Dobrenko he edited Socrealisticheskii kanon (2000); together with S. Hänsgen he edited Sovetskaya vlast´ i media (2006). Since 1980 he has been publishing continuously on Andrei Platonov: Po obe storony utopii. Konteksty tvorchestva A. Platonova (2012), Andrej Platonov. Leben Werk Wirkung (2016).
