Tim Hannigan, Athlone Institute of Technology, Ireland

Tim Hannigan received his doctorate – based on a critical-creative investigation of contemporary travel writing – from University of Leicester as a Midlands3Cities researcher. He currently runs the academic writing centre at Athlone Institute of Technology. He is also an experienced professional travel writer, and the author of several narrative history books with travel themes, including Murder in the Hindu Kush (The History Press, 2011), Raffles and the British Invasion of Java (Monsoon, 2012) and A Brief History of Indonesia (Tuttle, 2015). His research has been published in the Journal of Commonwealth Literature, Journeys, Terrae Incognitae, and Studies in Travel Writing. He was the convenor of the 2019 Borders and Crossings conference.
