Lekan Balogun, University of Lagos, Nigeria

Lekan Balogun holds a PhD in Theater and Intercultural Performance, which he received from the Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, after obtaining his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts (Distinction) in Theater Arts from the Department of Creative Arts, Faculty of Arts, University of Lagos, Akoka, Nigeria, where he now teaches courses in Playwriting and Performance, African and Diaspora Theater, Dramatic Theory and Criticism, Cultural and Gender Studies. Lekan is also an award-winning playwright: the writer of Moremi, Love and Colours in Delphi, Oya, Harlem Remembered!, Alaafin Kanran, Shaka, and many others. He has also written plays for the Royal Court Theatre, London; British Council, Nigeria; National Troupe of Nigeria; the Centre for Black and African Arts and Civilization (CBAAC). His plays have been performed in Nigeria and several countries in Europe, some have also featured in many international festivals, and he has worked consistently in the theater in the last twenty-five years as an actor, dramatist, and director.
