Ivo Andrić

Ivo Andrić (1892 – 1975) won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1961, which he was awarded “for the epic force with which he has traced themes and depicted human destinies drawn from the history of his country.” He mostly wrote novels, short stories and essays. Some of his most important works are The Bridge on the Drina (Na Drini ćuprija), Bosnian Chronicle (Travnička hronika), The Damned Yard (Prokleta avlija) and The Woman from Sarajevo (Gospođica).
