Jack Reilly, University College London, United Kingdom

Jack Reilly’s main research interests relate to ideas concerning temporality in political theory, particularly post-foundational theory. His doctoral thesis focuses on Soren Kierkegaard’s concept of the moment, seeking to draw connections between this concept and certain conceptualizations of political revolutions. The key theorists Jack currently works on are Carl Schmitt, Ernesto Laclau, Alain Badiou, and Slavoj Žižek among others. Each of these thinkers, to a greater or lesser extent, addresses the issue of political temporality in such a way that problematizes linear narratives and elevates the rare event or the sudden transformation as bearing significance for politics and history.
