Douglas Ambrose is Professor of History at Hamilton College, NY. He received his PhD from SUNY at Binghamton and served several terms as the Chair of the Department of History at Hamilton College. His expertise includes fields of colonial, early national and southern antebellum US history, while he has also extensively researched the history of Christianity in America. He has received several teaching and research awards (Mellon Fellowship). Among his publications stand out Henry Hughes and Proslavery Thought in the Old South (1996) and the edited collection of essays, together with Robert Martin, The Many Faces of Alexander Hamilton: The Life and Legacy of America's Most Elusive Founder (2006).
