Broj 3 / Godina 2 / The Book and Beyond

About a year and a half ago, or perhaps it was more, no one seems to remember the exact day anymore, when we decided to start [sic] - a Journal of Literature, Culture and Literary Translation, in our minds we had a small journal that would nevertheless stimulate debates and challenge authors to participate with their contributions in the hope of offering a somewhat different view on various topics and themes that we think about in our professional life and work. We hoped for some hundred or perhaps two hundred pages of articles, essays and translations; we counted on contributions from our friends and colleagues from Croatia and secretly dreamed that someone from abroad will find our journal interesting enough to join in. And today, when we are releasing our third issue that counts well over five hundred pages of articles, essays and translations, with more than twenty authors from all over the world, we are safe to say that we more than exceeded our initial expectations and even our wildest hopes.

Russell Scott Valentino - Translating the Poet

You want your author to be appreciated, to be read. Yes, why not, to be respected. As a writer at least, if not as a person. And the author's image, not just the work, is in your hands. That's the way it works in English at least, where translation tends to be decentralized.I'm not referring to... Pročitaj više

Richard Berengarten - A Nimble Footing on the Coals Tin Ujević, Lyricist: Some English Perspectives

While the notes will of course move into and around some of Tin's lyrical poems and suggest paths for critical analysis and interpretative discussion, they will follow zigzagging forays and tangential meanderings, some of which will spiral back on themselves, as well as paratactic jumps... Andrea Pisac - Emerging Politics of Authorship: Recovering Collectivity, Negotiating the Risk

With the commercialisation and digitalisation of publishing, the collective nature of authorship is becoming more explicit, as many authors are required to create readership through online social media marketing. Publishers believe that, with such online presence, they are able to mitigate... Pročitaj više

Lissi Athanasiou Krikelis - Speaking and Remaining Silent about the World Beyond

Due to their self-reflexive propensity, postmodern fiction and metafiction, in particular, have been relentlessly criticized of solipsism and of an indifference to relate to the extralinguistic world. While the novel is deemed to pause in its trajectory to examine itself, to examine... Pročitaj više

Stacey Berry - Beyond the Margins: The Novel of Protest and Production

The narrative examines the difficult and necessary relationship between the writer, the written word, and the production of social change. In focusing attention specifically on the power of text to influence systems of oppression on a large cultural scale, MAO II provides examples of the ways... Pročitaj više

Katarina Peović Vuković - Pismenost nakon decentralizacije. Nudi li Mreža novi oblik pismenosti?

Dok Hall i osobe poput njega surfaju kroz računalno stvorene svjetove, stvarajući svoje favorite i bilježeći svoja zapažanja, oni surfaju kroz dvodimenzionalne HTML dokumente, iako će, slijedeći pravilo Teda Nelsona o učestalim mijenama, svakih šest tjedana, oni uskoro vrludati kroz... Pročitaj više
